Funnyman: Alumni Event

January 11, 2016

In Screenwriting & Playwriting professor Bruce Graham’s new play, Funnyman, an aging vaudeville comic strives to stay relevant in the changing world of show biz. On February 11, Westphal alumni are invited to a special performance of the play at the Arden Theatre (40 N. 2nd Street) featuring a pre-show reception and discussion with Graham. Professor Graham is possibly Philadelphia’s most award-winning acclaimed playwright, having received consecutive Barrymore Awards for Best New Play (Something Intangible and Any Given Monday) and Chicago’s Jefferson Award for The Outgoing Tide. Alumni can meet current students and faculty at the reception, which starts at 6:00pm at Arden’s Hamilton Family Center (62 N. 2nd Street), followed by an 8:00pm performance of Funnyman.

Professor Graham recently had the world premiere of his play, Rizzo, dramatizing the life of the polarizing Philadelphia politician, at Theatre Exile in Philadelphia. In addition to 13 plays he has also written for film and television, including the current show The Good Witch, which premiered to the highest original program ratings ever for the Hallmark Channel.

All Westphal alumni are welcome to join this talk and performance, which is co-hosted by the Drexel University Alumni Association. Tickets are $35.
