One Guinness World Record was not enough for Digital Media professor Dr. Frank Lee. After creating the world’s largest architectural videogame in 2013 with his 29-story game of Pong on the Cira Centre, he has now replaced himself in this year’s world record book. Lee’s second colossal creation, an expanded game of Tetris used both the north and south sides of the Cira Centre during Philly Tech Week this past spring. The installation fell on the 30th anniversary of the classic and beloved game.

While Lee might be glad to earn the recognition a second time, the honor is only icing on the cake. “More so than breaking a record, my goal with this project was to unite the people of the city of Philadelphia around a public art installation – to give them a shared experience and inspire them to think about how a building can be more than just a building and, by extension, how the city can be much more than just a bunch of buildings and people sharing the same space,” Lee said.
