Inclusive Fashion Design with Bonnie Mackay

Bonnie Mackay of BMackay Consulting, former marketing director at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and fashion director at Bloomingdales, has an innate sense for design and materials. She has helped shape the identity of such brands as MUJI, Alessi, Kartell, Vitra, Moleskine, NUNO, and for the Echo Design Group, Design House Stockholm, and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. Mackay will be at the URBN Annex Screening Room on Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. for an open-to-the-public discussion about diversity and inclusion in fashion, product design and brand development.
Mackay is visiting as a Rankin Scholar in Residence. She has extensive global retail experience in product sourcing and development in Europe, Scandinavia, India, and Asia. At MoMA, Mackay had the unique opportunity to direct and develop retail re-branding of the Museum’s catalog, website, packaging, advertising, store redesign and renovations. Noting the diversity of the MoMA’s visitors, she developed a successful strategy to select cross-generational products to appeal to the Museum’s over two million annual visitors.
Mackay will be participating in an Inclusive Design Charette with Drexel students on product development and design for short- and long-term disabilities from Jan. 23 through Jan. 26. Mackay is also very involved in the documentary film community through her husband, Bob Eisenhardt, a film editor whose credits include, VALENTINO, THE LAST EMPORER, DIXIE CHICKS: SHUT UP AND SING and WAGNER’S DREAM. Mackay has consulted for Eisenhardt and has received credit on eight of his films.
