Eternal Sunshine of a Film Producer’s Mind

Glenn WilliamsonDirector Michel Gondry’s visually stunning film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was one of 2004’s biggest critical and commercial successes, winning the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and earning an Academy Award Best Actress nomination for co-star Kate Winslet. On Friday, Oct. 18, our Film & Video program will host Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’s executive producer Glenn Williamson for a Q&A session following a free screening of the film at 6:00 p.m. in the URBN Annex Screening Room (3401 Filbert St., Philadelphia).

Williamson has more than 20 years experience in the entertainment industry. Through his Los Angeles-based production company Back Lot Pictures, he has produced such films as Focus Features’ Hollywoodland, starring Ben Affleck, Adrien Brody and Diane Lane; Overture Films’ Sunshine Cleaning, starring Amy Adams and Emily Blunt; Summit Entertainment’s Push, starring Dakota Fanning; Magnolia Pictures’ Wonderful World starring Matthew Broderick and Sanaa Lathan; and the 2010 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award winning film Happythankyoumoreplease, written, directed and starring Josh Radnor. Williamson also served as a senior production executive at DreamWorks SKG, where he supervised such films as Sam Mendes’ Academy Award-winning American Beauty; Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous; Gore Verbinski’s The Mexican; and Todd Phillip’s Road Trip. He was also on the production team of Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands and Crowe’s Singles.

Williamson is a member of the Producers Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science and sits on the Foreign Language Executive Committee. During his visit to Westphal, Williamson will meet with students in our Film & Video program’s junior production workshop and conduct a class based on his producer role on the 2008 film, Sunshine Cleaning. The 6:00 p.m. screening of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Q&A with Williamson are both free and open to the public.
