Ryan Schwabe's RareMP3s StartUp Mixes Ellie Goulding
July 2, 2013 —
Music Industry Recording Studio Manager Ryan Schwabe has recently launched a mixing and mastering company called RareMP3s, dedicated to the creation of the highest fidelity mp3s – the modern means by which consumers enjoy most digital music.
Schwabe started RareMP3s with music producer Noah Beresin (a.k.a. Xaphoon Jones, previously of the group Chiddy Bang), when they were asked to mix musician Baauer’s remix of Disclosure’s garage anthem, “You & Me.” Baauer is best known for his hit song “Harlem Shake,” which went viral on social media this past year.
Most recently, Schwabe and his RareMP3s start-up worked on Neon Gold Records artist Ellie Goulding’s cover of the Alt-J song “Tesselate,” which will be included in the rerelease of Goulding's #8 Billboard-charting album, “Halcyon” on Universal Music Groups, Polydor Records. RareMP3s worked to enhance the shimmering, textured pop sound of Ellie Goulding’s music and the new company’s engineering, mixing and mastering portfolio has quickly grown to include the fuzzy R&B sounds of Aaron Livingston, the soulful breaks of RJD2 and the berserk Philly club of SwizzyMack.
“We eventually plan to expand RareMP3s into a record label,” says Schwabe, who works extensively with Music Industry’s own MAD Dragon Records label. “By signing select artists, RareMP3s will exclusively produce, mix and master their entire roster, giving their label a unique and cohesive sound.”
