Production by Drexel Players Benefits Women's Advocacy Groups
February 14, 2006
In association with the V-Day 2006 College Campaign, the Drexel Players are proud to present a benefit production of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues to be performed at Mandell Theater on February 9-11, 2006 at 8:00pm.
The V-Day College Campaign strives to empower women to find their collective voices and demand an end to the epidemic levels of violence and abuse on their campuses, in their communities and around the world. Through benefit productions of The Vagina Monologues on or around V-Day (February 14th) they raise money and awareness to stop violence against women and girls. The proceeds from these events are donated directly to local organizations in the community that are working to stop this violence.
Directed by Drexel alumni Kristin Spagnolo and featuring a cast of over 15 Drexel students, this production of The Vagina Monologues will raise money in support of Women Against Abuse=, which is a Philadelphia based organization that provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, hotline counseling and legal services to victims of domestic violence.
Hailed by The New York Times as "funny" and "poignant" and by the Daily News as "intelligent" and "courageous," The Vagina Monologues, which was first performed off-Broadway by Ms. Ensler, dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in women's experiences.
