The Dance program at Drexel is founded on the belief that the act of dancing offers an opportunity to grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially, in addition to physically. The curriculum is designed to guide each student in developing their own unique artistic voice. Students are exposed to a wide range of dance techniques and approaches through performances, intensive classes, and community participation. Dance at Drexel consists of three major elements:
- A 24-credit dance minor
- Open technique classes for the Drexel community
- The Drexel University Dance Ensemble
At the heart of Drexel Dance is the Drexel University Dance Ensemble. A professional caliber performing company comprised of select students, the Dance Ensemble choreographs and performs two concerts each year at the Mandell Theater. Students, faculty and guest professionals all create choreography for these biannual concerts. The performances in January and June are complete with costume, stage lighting and set design and feature a variety of dance styles including modern, ballet, jazz, post-modern and hip-hop.
