AAGA Art Auction

January 11, 2016

The 13th annual art auction will feature plenty of exciting items up for bid, from tickets to incredible cultural experiences to works donated by Philadelphia and Drexel artists. Hosted by the Arts Administration Graduate Association (AAGA), this year’s auction will take place on Friday, February 5 from 7:00pm to 10:00pm in the URBN Center (3501 Market Street). Whether it’s a Fringe Arts membership, Opera Philadelphia tickets, or work by award-winning emerging artists, support for the art auction not only benefits our city’s cultural landscape but will also support our graduate Arts Administration students’ annual trip to Washington, D.C. for Arts Advocacy Day. The art auction is a lively evening with food, music, art and a photo booth, featuring a trio of local jazz musicians led by Nick Salcido and opportunities to learn more about Arts Advocacy Day.

“Every March, the students in Drexel's Arts Administration program participate in National Arts Advocacy Day, giving us a chance to meet with legislators and emphasize the critical importance of continuing funding for the arts. We go to Washington as advocates, fighting for the arts in schools, in communities, and as an essential part of our national fabric. This on-the-ground arts advocacy training is a crucial component of our education, and February's auction works to raise the funds to send our first year students to Washington,” said AAGA president Carly Rappaport-Stein. The AAGA believes in the importance of the arts and culture in society and seeks to prepare Arts Administration students to be successful leaders in the field and in its professional development.
