9th Annual AAGA ArtAuction

February 10, 2012

The Arts Administration Graduate Association will host the 9th Annual Art Auction on February 17th at 7 PM in the lobby of the new Papapdakis Integrated Sciences Building. The auction will feature works by internationally acclaimed artist Steven Spann , whose work focuses on social engagement exploring questions of value and worth; tickets to “Dark Sisters,” a new opera commissioned by the Opera Company of Philadelphia; and an original Mummers costume worn by the South Philly String Band, as well as prints, pottery, paintings and more. Tickets are $15 and $10 for Drexel ID holders.

Proceeds from the auction support the AAGA’s annual trip to Arts Advocacy day in Washington, DC. Organized by Americans for the Arts, this national summit brings together arts professionals from around the country. Drexel students will train with professionals and meet with congressional representatives to advocate for the arts.  This hands-on support of the arts is vital to counteracting government funding cuts.
