Job Overview

The Cinema & Television Department at Drexel University seeks a Post-production Facility Manager to serve three bachelors programs: Film & Video, TV Production & Media Management, and Screenwriting & Playwriting, as well as one masters program: the Paul F. Harron Graduate Program in Television Management. The three undergraduate programs provide students with an intensive, hands-on education that develops both their craft and artistic vision with an emphasis on succeeding in the professional world of film and television. The graduate program concentrates on management within creative media industries and acknowledges the need for successful managers to anticipate future technology in the field.

Our present post-production facilities are PC and Mac-based for both Premiere (Adobe Creative Suite) and AVID Media Composer, and include DaVinci Resolve Color Suites and Sound Mixing Suites using Pro Tools. Our cameras range from DSLR’s for basic courses to the Red Epic and Black Magic cameras for advanced courses. We also work jointly with the IT staff in our College, who use Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) and Dell Kace software for imaging computers, deploying new software, and repair ticketing.


Bachelor’s degree preferred. A minimum of 3 years experience is required. Candidates should be comfortable using AVID and Adobe Premiere in both a PC and Mac environment, and should be proficient in post workflow using a variety of cameras. Knowledge of other software in the Adobe Creative Suite (including Encoder, Photoshop, Audition, and After Effects), as well as knowledge of the DaVinci Resolve Color Suite, Pro Tools, Microsoft Deployment Kit, or Dell Kace software, would be considered highly valuable. The person in this position should be able to work hand-in-hand with the College’s IT staff to install, configure, and troubleshoot our post- production computer stations. Ideally, we are seeking someone, who is well versed in the technological aspects of production and post-production and is a forward-thinker when it comes to technology in the field of film and television. The Post-production Facility Manager should also have the necessary skills to maintain our “CineTV Hub” website, including the creation of technical training videos for both production and post-production technology. If a candidate possesses high-level production skills, he or she would also have the opportunity to occasionally produce, direct, and/or supervise professional quality productions that employ students in key positions. The ideal candidate would be someone who takes initiative, is an expert problem- solver, and communicates well with people on various levels, from beginning students just learning the software to faculty members trying to achieve the best teaching environment to experienced IT staff seeking technical solutions to problems.

Essential Functions

The Post-production Facility Manager will oversee our post-production facilities, ensure proper HD work flow from camera to post, maintain our “CineTV Hub” website (including the production of technical training videos), contribute broadly to the technological advancement of the department, and be in charge of archiving student work, both on a server and with LTO backups. He or she will also assist faculty, other staff, and students with post-production issues on a regular basis.
