French hornist Angela Cordell Bilger enjoys a freelance career as a chamber musician, orchestral player, and educator, primarily in the Philadelphia and New York City areas. She plays frequently with the Philadelphia Orchestra where she spent the 2008-2009 season as Acting Fourth Horn, with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s. She has performed with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players, Columbia Sinfonietta, Imani Winds, Zephyros Winds, at Bargemusic, and in many Broadway shows. Ms. Bilger spent several summers at the Marlboro Music Festival and toured with Musicians from Marlboro. With the Central Park Brass and Ariel Winds, she was active in performing outreach concerts for children in schools and in hospitals. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, she received her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University. She then attended The Juilliard School where she received her master’s degree studying with Jerome Ashby and studied independently with Julie Landsman and Michelle Baker of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
