MS television management
Ryan Maguire is an award-winning social media professional with a background in television news and video production. Currently the lead Digital Content Strategist at the University of Delaware, Ryan focuses on creating strategies and developing shareable content through social and multi-media.
After graduating from the University of Delaware in 2007, Ryan worked as a producer/reporter at WHYY-YV, a PBS-affiliate, in Delaware, before starting Drexel’s Masters in Television Management Program in 2009.
He then went on to turn social media into a professional career path through his work as an Associate Producer at 13 WHAM News in Rochester, New York, as well as on the assignment desk at NBC 10 in Philadelphia. In 2011, Ryan returned to the University of Delaware to build out the University’s first strategic social media initiative as the institution’s first Social Media Editor.
In 2014, Ryan completed his thesis, Social Media and the Local Television Audience, which draws from his professional television news and social media experience and looks to map out the ideal social media relationship viewers would prefer to have with their local television news outlets—with the goal of aiding News Directors tasked with creating or revamping their station’s social media strategy.
