Palisade, Colorado

Marla Wood of Palisade, Colorado is an entrepreneur, artist and activist.  She is the co-founder of Roaring Judy Films based in Colorado. Wood has owned several businesses including a fine art gallery.  She is the author of Botticelli’s Women, a novel, and is a painter and award-winning photographer.  Inspired by the Women’s Suffrage as a teen, Wood has been active in several local and national political campaigns and served as a community organizer for Organizing for America in 2008 and 2010.

Raised in an entrepreneurial family, Wood has more than 20 years of hands-on business experience which she shares with other female entrepreneurs through Intuitive Business Counseling to support feminine expression in leadership. Wood has volunteered and served on Boards for several community and charitable organizations that speak to her heart including the Mesa Land Trust, Citizens for Smart Growth, the Humane Society and several local groups supporting equality—both women’s rights and gay rights.  In 2013, she and her producing partner volunteered to create a documentary film for Steadfast Steads. She has been a volunteer on-air programmer for KAFM Community Radio since 2003.

Wood is a graduate of the University of Oregon with a B.A. in Art History. An avid traveler, Wood gains new insights and creative energy by staying in motion—a habit she attributes to a long line of pioneering, westward moving female ancestors. She offers her passion and expertise when traveling in Europe by providing guided tours. In 2014, Wood will begin shooting a new documentary film project in Florence, Italy.
