For the past 16 years, Dayna Stock of St. Louis, Missouri, has been the manager of the Sue Shear Institute for Women in Public Life at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, an organization committed to increasing women’s participation in the public policy process. In addition to preparing women to run for office, Dayna has encouraged hundreds of college women to develop their leadership skills and prepare for lives of civic engagement as the director of the Institute’s leadership programs: the 21st Century Leadership Academy and the UMSL LEAD program.
Dayna serves on the executive committee of the Board of Directors for the United Way of Greater St. Louis, and is a member of the Community Advisory Council for the Missouri State University Department of Communications. She earned a PhD in political science and a master’s in public policy administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a B.S. in Communications from Missouri State University. Her research agenda focuses on American politics with an emphasis on gender and political institutions, women’s roles in politics, and political ambition, specifically as it relates to college women.
