Wanda Gordils has been married for over 40 years to Mr. Ferdinand Gordils and is a proud parent of two children, Gezia Gordils and Isaac Gordils, and two grandchildren, Francisco Noriega and Domingo Noriega. She graduated in 1983 from the Medical Careers Institute of Chicago as a certified hematology technician and cardiology technologist and is pursuing a degree in business management. She is the Indiana League of Latin American Citizens state director, National president of the National Conference of Puerto Rican Women, Inc. (NACOPRW), vice president of East Chicago Hope and Opportunity a parent and community engagement project, which is the only community PTA in Indiana. She is also a delegate for the Chicago chapter of NACOPRW, a Board member of the International Community Alliance, Inc. and a commissioner on the East Chicago Police Merit Commission.
Gordils has an enthusiasm for encouraging children and youth to obtain a good education so that they can move forward in their communities. She helps them to envision a future in diverse community roles. She carries the message of "yes we can" through education and hard work.
Wanda is a woman of remarkable determination, integrity and spiritual strength. Her tireless efforts and passion to work with our youth and communities and her excellence in carrying out her duties and responsibilities has gained the trust and respect of our youth and communities.
