Alice Paul Institute
Lucienne Beard is the Executive Director of the Alice Paul Institute, a women's history and leadership development center based at Alice Paul's family home, Paulsdale, in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey. She has worked in non-profit education and program development for over 25 years in museums and cultural organizations in Philadelphia and surrounding area. As API's first director of programs 2000-07, she established the Alice Paul Leadership Program, a menu of workshops, seminars and camps for girls aged 7-22 that uses historic and contemporary women as role models of leadership, and the historic interpretation of Paulsdale, the only accessible National Historic Landmark in New Jersey that honors a woman. and has over twenty years of experience working with historic sites and cultural organizations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Beard has served on the boards of the Girl Scouts and PA Museums, and currently is secretary on the board of trustees at The New Century Trust, the other National historic landmark that honors a woman in the Greater Philadelphia area.
She has a BA in International Affairs from The George Washington University and an MA in American History from Rutgers University, plus a Certificate of Non-Profit Management from The NonProfit Center at LaSalle University's School of Business.
