Amy Gottsegen, a junior at Drexel’s College of Computing & Informatics (CCI), will present a predictive algorithm that she’s building to track Philadelphia’s shifting demographics and investigate gentrification. Gottsegen’s algorithm uses geospatial data to determine which communities in Philadelphia are most likely to experience eviction issues. Her work will assist the Philadelphia Tenant’s Union to determine the area where residents have the highest potential for evictions. Gottsegen is currently on co-op working as a research programmer thanks to a grant from the Steinbright Partners Program. She is also working part-time for the CREATE Lab at Carnegie Mellon University to apply the knowledge gained from her project in Philadelphia to housing data in Pittsburgh.
