The Hearing Board Format

  1. Explain that the hearing is recorded in event of an appeal
  2. Introduce all parties including witnesses and advisors
    • Witnesses are excused
  3. Remind all parties about privacy of conduct proceedings
  4. Ask if respondent challenges the objectivity of any Board member(s)
  5. Read statement of truth to all parties
    • Do you swear or affirm that the testimony you are about to give is true?
    • Do you understand that giving false testimony in a conduct hearing could subject you to disciplinary action?
  6. The Chair (student) states the charge(s)
  7. Ask the respondent to proceed with presentation of case
  8. Respondent will receive questions from the Board
  9. Witnesses may be called, read the statement of truth, and receive questions from all parties
  10. Closing statement by the respondent
  11. Ask the board if anyone has any final questions
  12. Adjourn hearing and inform the parties they will be notified of the Board’s decision within two weeks
