Family Issues

When you are away at college, it can be an opportunity to make a fresh start, to refine or recreate yourself with the freedom that comes from being away from home. However, you may find that it is difficult to separate yourself from your family, especially if there are ongoing problems at home that are impacting you. Some students come to college with a history of family troubles, while others may see those difficulties develop while they are away. When you go home between academic terms, things may have changed significantly, and the adjustment you and your family need to make can be a struggle.

If you find yourself experiencing problems related to your family, you can contact a professional at the Counseling Center at (215) 895-1415 and schedule an appointment to explore how to manage the situation. You may also want to review the following resources, which can provide you with information on how to deal with some of the family concerns that you may face.
