Angela Jeon-Huh, EdD, Assistant Dean
As the Assistant Dean, Angela is responsible for overseeing ISSS programs and services such as immigration and cultural and academic concerns provided to international students, scholars, staff and faculty at Drexel. She is also responsible for advising and serving as the signatory for the foreign national’s H1-B and permanent residency applications for scholars, professional staff and faculty. Angela began her journey with Drexel in 2010 and started her career in international education in 2002. She is currently an active member and presenter for the Association of International Educators, NAFSA and PAIEN: Philadelphia Area International Educators Network. She earned her bachelor of arts degree in international politics and masters degree in leadership development from Penn State University and completed her doctorate in Educational Leadership at Drexel University. Angela's dissertation topic was Exploring the Influence of the Pre-Departure Orientation on the Undergraduate International Students’ Cultural and Academic Adjustment at Drexel University: The Example of Students from China.
Marilena Drakou, Assistant Director
As the Assistant Director, Marilena’s responsibilities include leading F-1 advising and overseeing immigration-related workshops and seminars for professional staff and faculty. She primarily focuses on advising F-1 students in regards to reinstatement, change of status and other complex immigration advising. She is also an active member of NAFSA and PAIEN. Marilena, has been working in the field of international education since August 2007, and has joined Drexel University since July 2004 where she has worked in various roles. She originally came from Greece in 2001 and she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Athens in Greece with specialty in Nurse Anesthesia. In 2007 she also received a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Service Administration from Drexel University with honors. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Legal Studies with specialty in Criminal Law at Thomas Kline Law School at Drexel University. She is very excited to be part of the ISSS team and she relishes learning and working in such a diverse institution.
Janet Gao, Assistant Director
As the Assistant Director, Janet is responsible for J-1 scholar advising and F-1 student advising as well as ISSS data management, data analysis and government compliance reporting. Janet is also in charge of presenting and leading workshops, seminars and presentations for students, scholars and other colleagues on campus. She received her master’s degree in intercultural communication from the University of Pennsylvania. She is also a certified Pennsylvania program specialist for English as a second language and U.S. Department of State local coordinator. She has experience working and interacting with people of diverse cultures and varying levels of English language proficiency, as well as implementing and developing innovative programming for international students/scholars and immigrants.
Josie Yaller, New International Student Advisor
As the New International Student Advisor, Josie is responsible for advising new international F-1 and J-1 students on immigration regulations. She reviews financial documents to process I-20/DS-2019 applications for new international students for all Drexel campuses and issues I-20s for re-admission, transfer students and change of education level. Josie's international credentials encompass ten years of formal study of foreign language and culture, culminating in a semester abroad in Madrid. While there, she served at the U.S. Embassy for a semester. After college, Josie worked at University of Pennsylvania’s International Students office for several years. Following a detour into the private sector, she looks forward to working with international students and colleagues who place the same high value on international education that she does. She received her Bachelor of Science at Syracuse University.
Jessica Cordisco, Administrative Coordinator
As the Administrative Coordinator for the International Students and Scholar Services, Jessica is responsible for supporting and answering inquires for our students, scholars and visitors of ISSS. She helps to maintain the workflow of the office by scheduling appointments, answering inquiries, directing students and scholars to the appropriate advisers and assisting the Assistant Dean of the ISSS. Jessica also supervises all of the work-study students and student employees, working with the office. Jessica received her Bachelor of Arts in International Area Studies with a Concentration in Justice and Human Rights and a minor in Criminal Justice from Drexel University. She also is learning to speak Arabic. She has been very passionate about intercultural communication since a young age and is excited to aid Drexel’s international students and scholars to the best of her ability.
