Professional Development and Career Management
The Steinbright Career Development Center (Steinbright), in partnership with the Pennoni Honors College, offers several courses for students participating in Drexel University's co-op program. Each course teaches critical skills and approaches for conducting a successful co-op or full-time job search.
COOP 101 – Career Management and Professional Development
COOP 101 is a 10-week course designed to prepare students for their cooperative education (co-op) experiences and to develop career planning and job search skills that will remain relevant throughout their careers. Successful completion of COOP 101 is required for participation in Drexel University's co-op program.
In COOP 101, students are introduced to Steinbright and the many services it provides. Topics covered in the course include: identification of career goals, resume writing, effective job search strategies, interview skills, contemporary workplace issues and professional communication.
Students are automatically registered for COOP 101 in the term most appropriate for their designated co-op experience.
COOP 001 – Co-op Essentials
Co-op Essentials is a version of COOP 101 designed specifically for students entering Drexel's co-op program with a history of extensive work experience. Recognizing that these students enter Drexel with many of the fundamentals that are the basis of COOP 101, the Co-op Essentials curriculum focuses on transition. Embarking on a new career, creating targeted resumes, and leveraging previous experience during interviews are among the topics that are discussed. The course also includes an overview of the services provided through Steinbright.
Registration in Co-op Essentials is managed by Steinbright.
COOP 250- Professional Skills Enrichment
COOP 250 is a course designed to provide students with additional professional development and job search skills. Participation in the course is based upon the recommendation of the staff of the Steinbright Career Development Center.
