Winners Announced for Drexel University - Wills Eye Institute Partnership
In March of 2013 Drexel University and Wills Eye Institute formed a partnership to support inter-institutional, multi-disciplinary collaboration in vision research. Through the Drexel Translational Research Program and the Wills Eye Innovation Research Grants Program, the Drexel - Wills Eye partnership will provide seed money to selected teams of Wills Eye and Drexel investigators conducting promising vision research.
This new partnership combines the talents and skills of the faculty and students across both institutions to strengthen our relative positions in translational research, provides our students with educational opportunities in cutting edge research, and fosters greater collaboration amongst our outstanding faculty.
Deborah Crawford Ph.D., Senior Vice Provost for Research at Drexel University, and Julia A. Haller, MD, Ophthalmologist-in-Chief, Wills Eye Institute, are pleased to announce that two collaborative projects have been selected to receive funding this year:
Clinical Evaluation of 4 Muscle Tenotomy Surgery for Nystagmus
Leonard B. Nelson, MD (Wills) / Ko Nishino, PhD (Drexel)
Handheld Digital Infrared Indirect Ophthalmoscope Imaging Device for Fundoscopic Examination without Visible Light
Jason Hsu, MD (Wills) / Timothy Kurzweg, PhD (Drexel)
Drexel and Wills Eye are delighted that this new relationship has been developed and look forward to fostering promising research for years to come.
