Effort Reporting System Upgrade Announcement
The Office of Research is pleased to announce the release of the upgraded Effort Reporting System (ERS) Version 8.0 in early May. For the next few weeks, the upgraded system will function in tandem with the previous version of ERS to ensure that all past effort reports were properly reviewed and certified.
We ask that all Principal Investigators take the next 10 business days to work with their Department Administrators and Office of Research Post-Award Program Administrators to carefully review all of their grants and respective personnel charges to ensure that all expenses applied to the grants are appropriate.
Access to the old effort reporting system will be available only for a brief period of time to allow for the review of past reporting periods and to confirm that you have no pending actions in the system.
While the look and the feel of ERS will remain the same to end-users, the upgrades include an enhanced payroll drill-down link on the effort reports that provides the details behind each effort percentage and expanded reporting functionality.
In conjunction with the system upgrade, the procedures surrounding the effort reporting process have been updated. Non-faculty staff members are now required to certify their reports twice per year rather than quarterly.
Beginning in early May, the Office of Research will reach out to individual departments to provide ERS training and assistance with any other relevant issues.
