At the Drexel Recreation Center, each and every client begins their training process with an assessment of their current physical state. Fitness assessments calculate exercisers' baselines and serve as tools to track physical fitness progress and health improvements. An assessment can determine physical strong-points and areas for improvement. Not only can fitness assessments help beginners get started on improving their health, but aide seasoned exercisers to build upon their previous and usual routines.
Comprehensive Fitness Assessment
Prior to meeting with one of our fitness specialists, new clients will complete a comprehensive health history questionnaire which collects medical, injury and exercise history, nutrition and lifestyle habits, as well as health and fitness goals. The information collected will determine the scope and design of the assessment. Comprehensive Fitness Assessments entail the testing of cardiorespiratory fitness levels, anaerobic threshold, muscular strength, strength endurance, balance, flexibility, and functional movement.
Body Composition Analysis
Body composition is used to describe percentages in fat, muscle, and bone tissues in the human body. Body fat percentage and distribution will be measured using skin-fold calipers, BMI and circumference measurements. We will also be utilizing some of the latest and cutting edge technology, PhIt. PhIt is a three-dimensional photonic imaging tool developed by a team of Drexel University alums, which tracks longitudinal changes in body shape and body composition. Utilization of this device will enhance the quality of the body composition analysis.
