Bringing Wellness to Your Worksite

Drexel Proactive Health is a Wellness Service model within the Drexel Recreation Center that provides customized strategies for individuals to enhance health and optimize performance. Increasing physical activity, improving nutritional habits and reducing stress have been identified as methods to reduce health risks and meet the demands of the modern day workforce.

Drexel Proactive Health meets these needs by providing Exercise Programs, Nutrition counseling and Therapeutic Massage services; these components are integrated and provided by Drexel’s team of specialists.


Nutrition Presentation

The Drexel Recreation Center will provide an evidence-based nutrition presentation that will be applicable to the needs of your company.

Meet our Professional Dietician Nyree Dardarian, MS RD LDN.

As Director of the Center for Integrated Nutrition & Performance since its opening in 2010, Nyree develops nutrition protocols for personalized nutrition training, weight management programs for Drexel faculty, staff and students, and campus wide workshops. With more than 20 years of experience in her field, Nyree’s experience with clinical nutrition is extensive. Nyree has completed the Weight Management Certification with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Weight Management, and Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutritionists Dietetic Practice Groups.


Fitness Demonstration

Your fitness demonstration will be tailored towards personal needs and interests and will promote exercise for active professionals.

Joe Giandonato, MS, CSCS Coordinator of Fitness Programs at Drexel University

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Giandonato holds a Master’s degree in Exercise Science from California University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he studied psychology. Giandonato has held stints at Germantown Academy, Saint Joseph's University, the University of Pennsylvania, and at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. As Coordinator of Fitness Programs, he’ll be creating and availing fitness and wellness programs. During your fitness demonstration, Joe can customize your experience and help better your office health by discussing issues such as workplace ergonomics, exercises to prevent cervicogenic headaches, lower back pain, and provide strategies for office workers to incorporate more physical activity their daily lives.


Chair Massage

Improve Productivity with On-Site Chair Massage

Even a brief chair massage visit can significantly improve employee problem solving abilities. A recent study in American Psychologist gave one group of workers a 15 minute rest, and another, a 15 minute massage. The group that received the massage performed significantly better on complicated tasks like math problems. Massage also improves creative thinking and relieves fatigue. It’s better than a cup of coffee!
