David Hollinger was appointed to the position of Director for Fire and Emergency Services in 2013. He is responsible for the University's fire/life safety and emergency preparedness (DrexelReady) programs. He also liaisons with and advises Drexel EMS - a student organization that provides emergency medical care as PA Deptartment of Health certified quick response service (QRS) to the Main Campus and the immediate neighborhood.
Designated as an Executive Fire Officer (EFO) by the U.S. Fire Administration, Hollinger is certified in fire protection (Certified Fire Protection Specialist and Certified Life Safety Specialist-Health Care), emergency management (Certified Emergency Manager), fire code inspection (Fire Inspector I/II and Fire Plans Examiner), instructional techniques (Incident Command System and National Incident Management System), and emergency medicine (PA Emergency Medical Technician).
He holds an undergraduate degree (BS) in Fire Administration and a graduate degree (MPA) in Public Administration from the University of the District of Columbia as well as a Certificate in Emergency Management from Drexel. David is a recent graduate of the National Emergency Management Executive Academy and currently enrolled in the Executive Leaders Program, Center for Homeland Defense and Security at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.
Hollinger previously served as a Firefighter with the City of Alexandria VA: Firefighter, Sergeant and Lieutenant in operations and later as Program Manager for technical fire code enforcement with the District of Columbia Fire Department for over 26 years; Fire Protection and Life Safety Technician for Dover Motorsports; and as Fire Chief for the Department of Fire and Rescue Services in Reading, PA. He is a member in many local and national technical, advisory and planning committees.
