Domenic Ceccanecchio is the Vice President of Public Safety for Drexel University and is responsible for all aspects of law enforcement, safety, security and emergency preparedness for the University.
Ceccanecchio is a 26-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department having served in various patrol, investigative and managerial capacities during his extensive career. In 1996 he retired from the Department’s Advanced Training Unit where he planned, implemented and commanded the Philadelphia Police Department’s Computer Training Unit.
In 1996, Ceccanecchio took employment with the University of Pennsylvania as the Security Project Coordinator and was promoted to Security Operations Manager in 1998. He served in this role until 2000 when he became the IT Security and Disaster Recovery Manager for the Philadelphia Gas Works. In 2001 he returned to the University of Pennsylvania as Manager of Security Services and was promoted to Director of Security and Technical Services in December of that year.
In October 2007, Ceccanecchio joined Drexel University as Senior Associate Vice President for Public Safety. Among the significant accomplishments during his first year at Drexel are the reorganization of the Public Safety Department, the creation of the Drexel University Police Department and the implementation of the DrexelALERT Emergency Notification System.
Ceccanecchio obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Philadelphia University, a Master of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and is board certified as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) by the American Society of American Security (ASIS). He is a member of several professional organizations and serves on several professional and public safety boards and committees including the ASIS Higher Education Council, the Police Athletic League Board of Directors and Citizens Crime Commission Board.
