Department of Public Safety
Drexel University’s Department of Public Safety takes a holistic approach to providing “best in class” preventive and protective services to the Drexel University community. The department provides and administers many community-oriented services and programs which exist to maintain a secure environment and to enhance the quality of life on our campuses (University City Campus, Center City Campus and the Queen Lane Campus).
Drexel Public Safety accomplishes its mission by integrating the best practices of modern public and private security, law enforcement and fire safety complemented with technology. First and foremost, our police and security forces provide a highly visible presence around the clock in our buildings and on our streets and walkways. Other strategies include ongoing educational programs that provide important information through personal safety and fire safety awareness training.
These as well as other initiatives focus on the importance of the community and partnerships. We enjoy excellent professional relationships with many public and private institutions, agencies and groups that play an important role in the Drexel community. One of our most important principles is that safety and security is a shared responsibility. It is imperative that our community members know, understand and practice a realistic approach to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment that is based on practices, partnerships, experience and common sense.
The men and women of the department are committed to professional excellence and truly believe in a community-oriented approach. We are always seeking new and better ways to provide these services while maintaining a welcoming and open campus environment. By constantly holding ourselves to the highest professional standards and never forgetting the individuals we serve, we will continue to grow in ways that protect everyone on our campuses as part of the Drexel experience.
