Dean's Seminar: "Aha!" Moments in the Brain

Wednesday, April 10, 2013

3:30 PM-5:00 PM

Learn about the exciting research being done by faculty in all departments of the College of Arts and Sciences!

Title: "Aha!" Moments in the Brain

Speaker: Dr. John Kounios, professor of psychology

There are two forms of thought that people use to solve problems.  Analytic thought is conscious, deliberate, and methodical.  In contrast, insightful thought yields a solution suddenly (i.e., an “Aha!” moment) after a period of unconscious processing.  Many breakthrough ideas in science, business, art, and religion occurred as sudden insights.  This talk will explore what happens in the brain when a person has an "Aha!" moment and what factors can promote insight.

This event is free and open to the Drexel community. Light refreshments will be served.
