Message from Department Head, Dr. Kirk Heilbrun

Welcome to the Drexel University Department of Psychology

This website provides a good deal of information about the department—our faculty, staff, and students, and the research, teaching, and training that take place here. Ours is a friendly and congenial department. It is also a very productive group, with coursework, research projects, and training conducted across a wide range of areas. The department has been nationally recognized for research productivity. It features four graduate programs:

  • A clinical doctoral program
  • A law-psychology program (administered jointly with the Earle Mack School of Law at Drexel)
  • An applied cognitive and brain sciences doctoral program
  • A research-oriented general masters program (not a clinical program), which includes an option for a BS-MS degree combination for students particularly interested in psychological research and possible career preparation as undergraduates.

The department also features strong undergraduate teaching, research opportunities for psychology majors, and a nationally recognized honor society. In addition, we teach a number of online courses that allow students to complete a degree with a psychology major—these courses are taught with the same level of rigor and attention to learning that characterize the courses taught on campus. Psychology co-ops are increasing in number, with some opportunities to do such co-ops on campus in the research labs of psychology faculty members.

Questions? Faculty and staff members will be pleased to talk with you. Please use the resources on this website, which may provide you with a good deal of information as well. Thank you for your interest in the psychology program at Drexel. We hope to see you on campus one day!
