Research Interests

Quasar Classification

Current Research

I study quasars, galaxies with black holes that are actively accreting (eating) stars, gas and dust, and the very basic, but very important, challenge of object classification in the context of massive amounts of data. My project attempts to perform the most complete and efficient identification of quasars possible by simultaneously using the distinctive and quantifiable characteristics of color and variability to distinguish quasars from other objects in the sky.
