About Me

Drexel faculty mentor: Dr. Christopher Li

Sarah Gleeson is a PhD student in Materials Science and Engineering. Sarah received an undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University in Biomedical Engineering, and served as an AmeriCorps volunteer for a year before coming to Drexel for graduate school. Under the guidance of Dr. Christopher Li in the Soft Materials Group, she is working on a project designing biomimetic synthetic bone materials. She hopes her work will be used to create more effective tissue substitutes for patients with bone disease or damage.

Sarah was selected as an Honorable Mention for the NSF GRFP in 2015 before being selected as a Graduate Research Fellow in 2016. She was also awarded the National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship in 2016 but declined in order to accept the GRFP.
