6:00 PM-8:00 PM
On Wednesday, 5/30/18, 6 PM in the URBN Center Annex Black Box Theater (3401 Filbert St.), Pennoni Honors College will host a free performance of the traveling solo show My Stroke of Luck with physician-turned-performer Diane Barnes, MD. Barnes is a Yale-trained radiologist who suffered a stroke that redirected her life. It disrupted her family and sense of self but also drew forth a new facet of creativity. My Stroke of Luck chronicles her denial, acceptance, and eventual transformation. It is a powerful work of interest across disciplines: for those in the health professions and in the arts; to anyone who has struggled with trauma and rehabilitation; and to anyone who has experienced the trials of parenting or being the child of a parent facing difficult issues.
This event is free and open to the public with a reception to follow the performance, but please RSVP here . Presented by Pennoni Honors College with venue collaboration from Westphal College of Media Arts & Design . For more information, visit My Stroke of Luck online; see recent reviews in the San Francisco Examiner and HuffPost.
