Paula Marantz Cohen

Distinguished Professor, Department of English

Paula Marantz Cohen is Dean of the Pennoni Honors College at Drexel University and a Distinguished Professor of English at Drexel University. She holds a BA in French and English from Yale College and a PhD in English Literature from Columbia University. She teaches courses in literature, film, creative writing, and cultural studies, and is a co-editor of jml: Journal of Modern Literature. Cohen is the author of four nonfiction books, including Silent Film and the Triumph of the American Myth, a Choice Outstanding Academic Book. She is also the author of five novels, including Jane Austen in Boca, a Doubleday Book Club selection and a Page-Turner of the Week in People Magazine; What Alice Knew: A Most Curious Tale of Henry James and Jack the Ripper, a Book of the Month Club and Mystery Guild selection; and her latest novel, Suzanne Davis Gets a Life. She writes a weekly blog on teaching “Class Notes” — for; frequent book, art, and movie reviews for the Times Literary Supplement (London); and essays for such publications as The Yale Review, The Southwest Review, and The Chronicle of Higher Education.
