Appeals Policy

In accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA), and Drexel University's commitment to equal access for people with disabilities, an appeal process has been established for individuals who believe they have been denied reasonable accommodations by the Office of Disability Services.

The University has identified the Interim Director of the Office of Disability Resources, Ann Knettler-Smith, as the individual by whom all appeals for reasonable accommodations will be reviewed. In order to initiate this process, one must submit a written Letter of Appeal to the Director of the Office of Disability Resources within twenty (20) business days of the alleged denial, unless extensions for good cause are provided. This Letter of Appeal can be sent to:

Interim Director, Office of Disability Resources
3141 Chestnut Street, 81-210
Philadelphia, PA 19104
ask66@drexel.edu

The Letter of Appeal must include:

  • Name and University ID number of appellant
  • Basis for the appeal
  • The remedy or relief sought
  • Any supporting evidence

Upon receipt of the Letter of Appeal, the Director of the Office of Disability Resources will promptly review the appeal. A determination will be provided to the appellant in writing at the conclusion of the review period. In the event where the Director of the Office of Disability Resources denied the original request for reasonable accommodations, the Letter of Appeal will be reviewed by Associate Vice President for Equality & Diversity, Michele Rovinsky-Mayer.
