Star Leaders, Star Organizations, and Star Professionals – FAQ's

What are Star Leaders, Star Organizations, and Star Professionals?
The Office of Student Leadership Development & Traditions (SLDT) honors a student leader, a student organization, and a Drexel professional each term for their contributions to the Drexel community. SLDT recognizes that their example should be highlighted. Beginning with the 2012-13 academic year, Star Awards are granted each term. Previously, these awards were issued on a monthly basis. To increase the prestige of the award and to allow for more time for nomination submissions, SLDT changed these awards to a term-by-term achievement rather than a monthly honor.

What do I/we get for becoming a Star Leader, Star Organization, or Star Professional?
All award recipients will receive a personalized recognition letter from the Office of Campus Activities and will have their name engraved on a plaque to be displayed in the Creese Student Center. In addition, each award recipient will appear in an advertisement in an edition of the DrexelNow e-newsletter recognizing their achievement and will be awarded with a certificate in their honor.

How are decisions made and can I/we apply to be a Star Leader, Star Organization, or Star Professional?
The SLDT staff makes decisions based on recommendations from a variety of Drexel administrators and submissions from student organizations. Students and staff may complete and submit the Star Leader/Organization/Professional forms to SLDT by the end of Exam Week each term for consideration for that term's award (Example: Deadline of December 14, 2012 for nomination submissions for the Fall 2012 Term Star Awards).

How can students and staff submit nominations for Star Leaders, Star Organizations, and Star Professionals?
Nomination forms are sent to student organization leaders/advisors and can be downloaded here:
