Office Hours: Mondays-Wednesdays 2pm-5pm

What are some of the activities you are involved with (and positions held)?
I am actively involved and a sister of the sorority, Phi Sigma Sigma. Currently, I am the fundraising chair and the athletics chair. I am also a member of the Drexel Marketing Association and the Drexel Nutrition Association.

What does the Leadership Assistant position mean to you?
The Leadership Assistant position means helping students enhance their college experience and hopefully inspiring them to learn more about themselves through the resources and organizations at Drexel. I have extremely enjoyed my involvement on campus so far, and as a Leadership Assistant, I hope to engage students as much as possible to help them better themselves and grow as individuals.

Why did you get involved with the Leadership Assistant position?
I got involved in the Leadership Assistant position because I was interested in helping plan events and programs throughout Drexel that students would get excited about and encourage them to be active in their college community. I like meeting new people and taking on new challenges, and this was the next perfect opportunity for me.

What do you really like about this position?
This year, I look forward to planning events and taking on specific projects whether it be through marketing programs or Homecoming. I am eager to learn more about and become a part of the planning aspects of Drexel events.

What is the best advice someone gave you?
The best advice someone gave to me is: when you feel like quitting, think about why you started it in the first place. I think this advice is important to remember because some people get caught up in the little things or the stressful moments towards reaching your goals, but in the end, it’s always worth it.

What is your favorite leadership quote?
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”  –Steve Jobs

What leadership development opportunities or resources would you like to see Drexel University offer students and student organizations?
I think Drexel has numerous opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, but it is their job to use them to their advantage. As a Leadership Assistant, I plan to help spread the word about the leadership programs that already exist at Drexel so students are fully informed and can get more involved.

Leming ChenName: Leming Chen
Major: Business Administration: Finance & Economics
Year: Senior
From: Phoenixville, PA
Contact Email: lc457@drexel.edu
Office Hours: Wednesdays 2pm-4pm and Thursdays 8am-3pm

What are some of the activities you are involved with (and positions held)?
I am actively involved with several student organizations on campus. I serve as the President of the Drexel Chapter of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, Treasurer for the Drexel Finance & Investment Group, Senior Advisor for the Honors Student Advisory Committee, and Treasurer for the Drexel Entrepreneur Association.

What does the Leadership Assistant position mean to you?
This position presents an opportunity to grow both personally and professionally, while at the same time, applying my personal knowledge about leadership and campus engagement to better strengthen and improve student life at Drexel. SLDT promotes four core values: educate, engage, inspire, and transform. I believe it is essential for all students and organizations to recognize these values as they progress into the future. Being a leadership assistant allows me to experience and apply these values first hand.

Why did you get involved with the Leadership Assistant position?
This is my second year serving as a Leadership Assistant.  Through my personal experiences with student organizations, I am fully aware of many issues common and unique to all types of groups and recognize the importance of having a resource to help with an organization’s growth. Having the opportunity to meet and connect with a number of different individuals is also a nice plus.

What do you really like about this position?
The best part of this position is just the opportunity to meet so many new people I otherwise would never have come across here at Drexel. The LA team is wonderful and being able to connect with so many other student leaders and organizations is really just an enriching experience. SLDT has a fun team culture and really supports you in any way they can. I look forward to enhancing the CEO LEAD program and working with new student organizations throughout the year.

What is the best advice someone gave you?
Sometimes, it’s better to give than to receive. The world is cruel and unrelenting place, plagued with misfortune and hardship. Just one person giving back to the community or helping others in some way may seem nominal in the grand scheme of things, but if people can unite to do good onto others, this world would be a much better place to live. While we all want to look out for our own interests, sometimes, it’s the moments when we can make a difference in the lives of others, no matter how large or small the contribution, that gives us the most satisfaction and happiness.

What is your favorite leadership quote?
"It's better to risk everything than hold onto nothing." –Clark Kent, Smallville

What leadership development opportunities or resources would you like to see Drexel University offer students and student organizations?
Drexel offers so many leadership development opportunities, especially now through the SLDT, that I wish more students were aware of. Sometimes, everything gets confusing and disorganized, so I’d like to see a formal and more organized system of managing, maintaining, and promoting all of the leadership programs available.

Leming Serves as a Leadership Assistant Liaison to the Following Student Organizations:

Raub DakwaleName: Raub Dakwale
Major: Philosophy & Political Science
Year: Sophomore
From: Pleasanton, CA
Contact Email: smd364@drexel.edu
Office Hours: Mondays-Tuesdays 10am-11:30am;
Thursdays 3:30pm-6pm and Fridays 10am-1pm

What are some of the activities you are involved with (and positions held)?
I am currently heavily involved with various activities around campus particularly my fraternity and intramural athletics. I've assumed various leadership positions in my fraternity such as serving as our current Campus Involvement chair as well as a former Scholarship chair. Furthermore I am now one of the three heads of Drexel University's Relay For Life, which my fraternity manages. In that position I oversee a committee of four people to manage every Relay For Life event outside of the actual walk. I'm also a former Orientation Leader.

What does the Leadership Assistant position mean to you?
To me, this Leadership Assistant position means opportunity to bring about change to our campus by helping educate, engage, inspire, and transform its student organizations to improve the quality of our Student Life. I firmly believe there's a place for everyone on this campus and by helping the leaders of our student organizations better their groups, people will more easily be able to find their niché.

Why did you get involved with the Leadership Assistant position?
I became a Leadership Assistant because I love to help people. Those taking on leadership positions in their organizations are sometimes overwhelmed by the amount of factors they need to consider and tasks they need to complete in order to lead successfully; it's a tough job. I got involved to lend leaders a helping hand in cultivating their organizations.

What do you really like about this position?
I look forward to meeting all the new people I'll have the ability to meet due to this position. I love how this position is about providing a lot of very personalized support to each organization I interact with. Finally, SLDT has a very fun culture and I look forward to working with my fellow LA's.

What is the best advice someone gave you?
Nobody ever wants to be the first person to do something crazy and everyone always just waits for everybody else. Forget about them and JUST DO IT!

What is your favorite leadership quote?
"A leader is one who, out of madness or goodness, volunteers to take upon himself the woe of the people. There are few men so foolish, hence the erratic quality of leadership in the world." –John Updike

What leadership development opportunities or resources would you like to see Drexel University offer students and student organizations?
I'd like to see more development opportunities come up through the CEO LEAD program. Things like seeing Fortune 500 executives come in to speak. I'd want to see opportunities that could spark the creativity of the student body. The next big idea is out there, the question is who's going to get to it first.

Office Hours: Mondays 9am-11am / 12pm-2pm / 3pm-5pm;
Wednesdays 12pm-2pm and Fridays 11am-1pm

What are some of the activities you are involved with (and positions held)?
Drexel Student Ambassadors Program, Global China Connection – Drexel Chapter (former VP), Drexel Women’s Rugby, Drexel Intramural (Supervisor of Structured Sports), Drexel University Pagan Alliance

What does the Leadership Assistant position mean to you?
The Leadership Assistant position offers me the opportunity to give back to Drexel by strengthening the student life community. It allows me the chance to apply my communication and interpersonal skills to help student organization leaders develop their organizations into successful, self-sustaining, and all inclusive student life groups for all members of Drexel’s community – whether it be an on-campus resident, commuter, or even an online student who has never set food on Drexel’s main campus.

Why did you get involved with the Leadership Assistant position?
Having been a student leader myself for both campus organizations and an international, student-run non-profit organization, I understand how helpful it is to have as much support as possible. It is a challenge to be able to juggle one’s academic, social, athletic, and leadership lives – especially when we are trying to fit sleep into out schedule! By offering myself as a resource, I can provide student leaders my knowledge of Drexel and insight into my own leadership experiences.

What do you really like about this position?
What I look forward to most about this position is the hands on work experience with our student organizations. I believe that student organizations are what make up the heart of student life here at Drexel. This position will also allow me the opportunity to meet with other students who I might never have met before!

What is the best advice someone gave you?
The best advice someone once gave me was to always make an impact and touch peoples’ lives. People will forget what I have said, and people will forget what I have done; but, people will never forget how I made them feel.

What is your favorite leadership quote?
“Leadership is problem solving. The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help or concluded that you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership.” –Colin Powell

What leadership development opportunities or resources would you like to see Drexel University offer students and student organizations?
I would really love to see more opportunities for students to help lead initiatives and projects in the local communities of Powelton and Mantua, particularly through community service. There is only so much students can learn of leadership from having CEOs and leading business figures come speak to at workshops and lectures. It is another level of leadership development when we actually have our students out in the field really making a difference in the lives of our residential neighbors – that is showing real leadership incentive from the Drexel community.

What does the Leadership Assistant position mean to you?
An opportunity to get involved and have an impact on campus, an opportunity to help others, an opportunity to share my experiences, and an opportunity to meet and learn from awesome people.

Why did you get involved with the Leadership Assistant position?
As a commuter I was searching for a way to become more involved on campus and meet new people. I’ve been to a few workshops and seen LA’s in action, and behind the scenes helping. I didn’t know all the job responsibilities at the time, but it was very appealing to me.

What do you really like about this position?
I look forward to meeting tons of new people, and learning how to be a better leader.

What is the best advice someone gave you?
Reach for the stars! ‘cause if you fall you’ll land on a cloud!

What is your favorite leadership quote?
"
The price of greatness is responsibility." –Winston Churchhill

What leadership development opportunities or resources would you like to see Drexel University offer students and student organizations?
I would like to see a speaker talk about how to manage personalities in a group or team. I think this skill is an essential component of leadership and many students could benefit from.

Wednesdays 12pm-2pm / 5pm-6pm; and Thursdays 9am-12pm

What are some of the activities you are involved with (and positions held)?
Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity – Fundraising Committee; Aramark Concessions Manager

What does the Leadership Assistant position mean to you?
The Leadership Assistant position means an opportunity to be involved in coordinating events that may affect every student on campus.  I think it will be a great chance to meet new people, both students and faculty from a number of organizations and departments.  Ultimately, I see it as a way to get oriented with a lot of interesting aspects of Drexel and Student Life that I may not have had to chance to experience otherwise.

Why did you get involved with the Leadership Assistant position?
So far at Drexel, the majority of my involvement has been through Athletics and Greek Life.  Working in the Office of Student Leadership Development and Traditions will give me a new universal insight and chance to help coordinate activities for all types of students. I am excited to get to know the university as a whole on a number of new levels.

What do you really like about this position?
I am excited to work on all of the potential projects that Leadership Assistants coordinate but out of those, I am looking forward to Homecoming and the CEO Lead Events.  As a business student, I have a great interest in the beneficial value these events offer and the chance to meet distinguished professionals who may be guest speaking about their particular industries.  Homecoming will be a great chance to bring together the Drexel community as a whole and make it a fun experience for everyone involved.

What is the best advice someone gave you?
I believe I received the best advice through my maternal grandfather, but in a more indirect kind of way.  His entire life he has led by example and stressed the values of hard work, respect, and humbleness.  I look up to him as a mentor who has been a hardworking individual his entire life, even into his elder years.  While he has certainly lived an accomplished life, he has never sought to flaunt his achievements.  Instead, he has embraced the most rewarding aspects such as family life and helping the community around him.

What is your favorite leadership quote?
As a student pursuing an entrepreneurship degree, I really like Steve Jobs, Apple Inc.’s late CEO, and his simple but powerful quote: “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.” Steve Jobs was certainly an innovator in his day.  Even since he has passed away, his spirit still lives on as an excellent example of a modern day pioneer and an inspiration for all individuals who are looking to make a difference in our world.

What leadership development opportunities or resources would you like to see Drexel University offer students and student organizations?
I would like to see Drexel coordinate more events with other universities and organizations outside of our own campus, so that students may get a chance to experience other academic and professional communities and perspectives.

Brooke Von PuschName: Brooke Von Pusch
Major: Business Administration with Concentrations
in Accounting and Legal Studies
Year: Junior
From: Philadelphia, PA
Contact Email: bav28@drexel.edu
Office Hours: Mondays 12pm-3pm; Wednesdays 8am-12pm;
and Thursdays 4:30pm-6:30pm

What are some of the activities you are involved with (and positions held)?
I’m mainly involved in Drexel’s Accounting groups, namely NABA and Alpha Beta Psi for which I am currently applying for membership.  I also follow the Biddle Law Society, FUSE and the Red Cross. The Red Cross is something particular to my heart, though I’m minimally involved on Drexel’s campus; I give blood regularly in the Philadelphia Red Cross locations.

What does the Leadership Assistant position mean to you?
To me this position means being a student ambassador. I see myself as a go between with the student organizations and Drexel University so help facilitate any and all needs that may arise.  I also hope to influence positive and productive change in the structure and services offered to enable growth and development within our school.

Why did you get involved with the Leadership Assistant position?
This position represents a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on my school.  Because I am a commuter, my involvement thus far has been minimal.  This position will help me remedy that and create lasting and meaningful impact at Drexel on behalf of the student body.

What do you really like about this position?
I’m really looking forward to working with a new dedicated team and meeting Drexel’s up and coming student leaders.  I think it will be interesting to see the different perspectives each student group leader brings to the table and I hope my past experience in project management and process improvement will enable me to help them further develop their student organization.

What is the best advice someone gave you?
My mother has always told me “if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing right.” Over the years, she said it so much that by the time I hit high school, my instinctive reaction to the phrase was an eye roll.  Eventually, when I really started taking personal responsibility for myself and started gaining real world experience, I realized just how much value was in those 9 little words.  My commitment to really enacting her advice has been invaluable in both my professional and personal life, especially since I started in college.

What is your favorite leadership quote?
“If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.” One of the most important qualities in a leader is dedication.  There are many situations where there are little to no resources to advancing a particular goal and there are a couple ways to work around this. One, you can regroup and reorganize your goals to achieve the best results possible within the current system. Or two, you can find away to gain access to those resources or find another way to achieve what is needed.  Both are perfectly valid, but to me a true leader goes above and beyond to better their group or peers.

What leadership development opportunities or resources would you like to see Drexel University offer students and student organizations?
TBD! Once I’ve gained a little more insight into the current landscape and see what Drexel already does and does not offer I will update my suggestions.  As for now, I know Drexel has a wide variety of resources and I’m dedicated to making sure that the student organizations have the opportunity to capitalize on that network.

What does the Leadership Assistant position mean to you?
The LA position means that I would be able to learn and grow with other fellow student leaders on campus and help them get all the resources they need to make their student organization successful. Also, I’m the one that can help improve campus wide events more convenient, helpful and fun!

Why did you get involved with the Leadership Assistant position?
I have attended many campus/student organization events and CEO LEAD certified workshops. I think these workshops are very helpful in both personal and professional growth. Now I want to challenge myself with the Leadership Assistant position to actually take part in putting these workshops together and presenting them to Drexel students and staff. I'm always up for an adventure so I am up for any events or activities that I will be taking part in. One of my goals is to become a strong leader, I think this is another opportunity to grow and learn as a leader. I want other students to have the chance to experience things that I have experienced. I want to be able to increase student involvement on campus activities because campus activities help personal and professional development, I want to be able to reach out to students and help encourage students to go to workshops and events that Drexel offers.
