Drexel's 2012 Homecoming is a week-long celebration (January 23-29, 2012) designed to foster awareness of campus initiatives and instill pride in all members of the Drexel community. Enlivened with traditions of the past and creativity of the future, Homecoming offers a full array of events for everyone! Students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends are invited to join in the festivities. The theme for the 2012 Homecoming is "Year of the Dragon", in conjunction with the Alumni Association's year-long celebration of events. Graduates of the "Creating Excellent Organizations (CEO)" Leadership Development Program at Drexel University are invited to reunite and network with current students in the program during Homecoming 2012! This special reunion event, sponsored by the Division of Student Life and the Drexel University Alumni Association, is for all alumni who earned one or more certificates in the CEO Leadership Development Program while they were students at Drexel. CEO alumni will enjoy a brunch buffet at Landmark Americana Tap and Grill where they will have the opportunity to mingle with other alumni, current student participants in the program, CEO presenters, and members of Drexel's Division of Student Life, Office of Campus Activities and the Alumni Association Board of Governors before the Homecoming men's basketball game. You'll also learn about the revamped and rebranded leadership program launching in Winter 2012, now known as "CEO LEAD" (Creating Experiential Opportunities for Leadership Education and Development), and how you can continue your involvement with the program by being a future presenter. Feel the Homecoming fire and watch the Drexel Dragons men's basketball team as they take on the University of Delaware, a Colonial Athletic Association rival, at the DAC. Join Coach Bruiser Flint, students, faculty, staff and alumni and help to PACK the DAC and cheer on the Dragons as they take on the Blue Hens! There will be special half-time activities including the announcement of the Homecoming King and Queen! The Drexel Fight Song was written by Gay V. Piercy '39 and Todd Groo '41. It first appeared in print in a 1938 edition of the Drexel Athletic News. In the 1950s, the song was recorded by the Drexel Bands and combined Glee Clubs. The recording was lost but rediscovered in 2006; since then, the song has been revitalized and the spirited tune is once again an important part of Drexel pride and tradition.
