Drexel's Videoconferencing and Audio Visual Team is Now Known as VCaP

Drexel IRT’s Videoconferencing and Audio Visual team is pleased to announce the rebranding of its unit. The team is making a concerted effort to develop stronger partnerships with similar units on campus such as Drexel University's Learning Technologies Group, Lebow InTech, Instructional Media Services (IMS), Audio Visual Services (AVS, formerly DUST) and DUTV. In an effort to project a clearer identity they have changed their name to Video Collaboration and Production, or VCaP for short.

VCaP has seen a steady uptick in requests for studio-quality productions as well as an increased need for archiving and –– when possible –– webcasting of high-profile campus events. Further, with the growth at the Queen Lane, Burlington County College, and Sacramento locations, the need for videoconferencing in hybrid classes has seen a marked increase.

VCaP has reinvigorated the Media Collaborative Group (MCG), which is an informal consortium of Drexel staff who provide similar services, e.g., videoconferencing, webcasting, production support and lecture-capture, in specific administrative or academic units. With the overarching goal of creating suggested "best practices," the group meets quarterly to discuss emerging and obsolete technologies, as well as the collective needs of individual members. As a university-wide group, the MCG hopes to make navigating the world of multimedia less confusing and more inclusive for all end users. Schools and departments are encouraged to embrace such technology, especially as teaching and learning moves further in the direction of augmenting face-to-face classes, hybrid and online courses.

If you would like to discuss any VCaP services for your class, meeting or event or to collaborate with the VCaP team, contact them at 215-895-2324 or vcap@drexel.edu. To submit a specific request – use the form on their website. If your department provides a similar service to the ones mentioned above and you would like to be added to the Media Collaborative Group, contact Larissa Mogano at 215.898.2651 or ljm323@drexel.edu.
