Thoughts, Prayers and Assistance for Gulf Coast Hurricane Victims

Aug. 30, 2017

Dear Members of the Drexel Community,

The nonstop images of suffering amid the devastation of Hurricane Harvey being broadcast from Houston and other Gulf Coast communities are heart-wrenching. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the flooding, and with those living in the Texas and Louisiana cities and towns that now face weeks, months and even years of recovery.

Included in our thoughts are any Drexel alumni living in the storm-torn region, and with the dozens of current students with ties to the area. Our Student Life office stands ready to assist students in any way possible.

While the rains eventually will move away, the need to aid and comfort the victims of Hurricane Harvey will continue long after. We in the mid-Atlantic states know this perhaps better than Americans living in other parts of the nation, having seen the destructive force of Hurricane Sandy create a crisis that hit close to home for the Drexel community.

In keeping with Drexel’s culture of caring, service and philanthropy, I want to encourage everyone who can to consider making a donation to help hurricane victims. Here are some worthy organizations that are involved in the region.

American Red Cross
The Salvation Army

We are a strong community, and we stand ready to help each other, and all those in need.

Sincerely,

John Fry
President
