Support Drexel Faculty, Alums with a 'Twisted Swisster'

Center for Hospitality and Sport Management Director Jonathan Deutsch, PhD, will create a guest burger for a local restaurant on Sept. 23.

Burger lovers, meet the "Twisted Swisster." An all-beef patty draped in a young alpine swiss from Birchrun Hills Farm in Chester County, topped with a vodka pickle (grown in a local community garden no less) and covered with a Green Dragon Sauce crèma using the green jalapeno sauce developed by Drexel culinary science alums Matt Vignola ‘12 and Kevin Ernhoffer ‘12.

On September 23, Jonathan Deutsch, PhD, professor and director of the Center for Hospitality and Sport Management will create this tasty masterpiece for Executive Chef Justin Swain of Rex 1516, a South Philly restaurant specializing in Southern-inspired cuisine. Swain is hosting a special guest burger series every Tuesday this month. Deutsch’s burger is all Drexel with locally sourced ingredients and products from the center’s partners, purveyors and alumni.

But get it while it's hot (and cheesy); this delight is available for one night only. And chefs Deutsch and Swain only have enough ingredients for 50 burgers.

Other participants in the series include celebrity chefs Chris Kearse and Kevin Sbraga, Foobooz’s Art Etchells, Philadelphia Eagles first-round pick Marcus Smith, Zagat’s Danya Henninger (Sept 16), and Fox 29’s Mike Jerrick (Sept. 30).

Rex 1516 is located at 1516 South Street in Philadelphia.
