Drexel Public Safety Communications Center Earns Reaccreditation

The Drexel University Public Safety Communications Center (DUPSCC) earned reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) on Nov. 22 at the Fall 2014 CALEA Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Since 2011, Drexel has remained the only university in the world with an accredited, dedicated public safety communications center.

The DUPSCC is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by dispatchers who are certified and trained by the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials to serve as a link between the Drexel community and the Department of Public Safety. To earn reaccreditation, the DUPSCC had to meet over 200 rigorous standards, submit annual reports to the commission and undergo an on-site assessment by the CALEA accreditation team.

The Drexel University Police Department wrapped up its on-site assessment for reaccreditation in late October.
