Drexel to Host Watch Party on Inauguration Day

Philadelphia, January 14, 2009

What: Drexel University will celebrate the inauguration of the first African American president with a watch party for all students, faculty and staff in the Great Court of the University’s Main Building. Visuals: -The Victorian Great Court will be decorated for the event with a 40-foot-long U.S. flag, and red, white and blue balloons -Life-size cutouts of Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton will be available for attendees to pose for photos -A message wall will allow everyone to post comments for the new president. -A game of presidential trivia will offer the opportunity to win prizes including replicas of the Constitution. Who: Drexel political science professors will lead conversations on the significance of the inauguration, and the challenges Obama will face as president. Students, faculty and staff will watch the inauguration live on a huge TV screen.
