Mad Dragon Records Receives Eight IMA Nominations

Mad Dragon Records, the record label run by Music Industry students at Drexel University’s Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, and several of the label's artists received eight Independent Music Awards (IMA) nominations. The IMAs are the top national awards for college music recording programs and independently produced music. The eight nominations are up from three last year. The label has won in the category of “Best College Label” for the past two years. The nominees are:
• Song Sing Out For Social Action: Hoots + Hellmouth, "Root of the Industry"
• Album Alt. Country: Hoots + Hellmouth, The Holy Open Secret
• College Label Release (album or EP): Hoots + Hellmouth, The Holy Open Secret; Andrew Lipke and the Prospects, Motherpearl + Dynamite
• Indie Label Promo Compilation: 180 Grams and Unleashed 5
• Publicity Photography: Hoots + Hellmouth/Doug Seymour
• Band Web site Hoots + Hellmouth (http://www.hootsandhellmouth.com/)
Voting for several awards categories is now open to the public at http://www.independentmusicawards.com/imafinalist/. Winners selected by the IMA's industry and artist judging panel will be announced in January 2010. Winners determined by public voting will be announced in spring 2010.
