Apparel Inspired by Asian, American, Counter and Pop Culture at Annual Student Fashion Show
May 27, 2008
What: The 29th Annual Fashion Show of Drexel’s Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design will feature professional models showcasing the collections of student designers in a full range of clothing categories: evening wear, lingerie, men’s and women’s wear, sportswear, children’s, swimwear, and more.
Who: Produced by students in the design and merchandising program, the show rivals any professional show in the commercial fashion world, showcasing six graduate collections and 30 senior collections.
Featured student designers include:
Vanessa Sanches—A high-end collection for the woman who is fearless, yet feminine. Inspired by the concept of urban armor, the designs incorporate metal and chiffon; chain and cashmere.
Rebecca Billante –-Captivated by the femininity and drama of Claire McCardell’s 1940s swimwear, Billante created a modern sportswear collection for the woman who is drawn to unique shapes and luxurious fabrication.
Clark Shaw —The work of Egon Schiele and Cy Twombly inspired Shaw as he created tailored menswear with traditional tones fusing pop colors to explore the transition from boyhood to manhood.
When: Wednesday, May 29, 2008 (two shows) at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Where: Crystal Tea Room, ninth floor of the Wanamaker Building, 100 Penn Square East
