The Clean Water Act was a piece of ground-breaking legislation when it was signed into law on Oct. 18, 1972. Forty years later, many of America’s waterways have been preserved and its drinking water protected due to the provisions and prohibitions of the CWA. Dr. Franco Montalto, an associate professor in the College of Engineering whose research focuses on green design and urban water management, is available to comment on the impact of the law and what measures need to be taken to ensure protection of the natural resource.
