Heard Around Campus — August

Heard Around Campus

Summer is winding down and with it comes the end of the summer term and the start of a new academic year. Here’s what was heard around campus in August that Drexel faculty and professional staff should know about to prepare for the upcoming weeks.

Employee Appreciation Fest is Coming Up!

Here’s something that you, dear reader, definitely need to know: Employee Appreciation Fest will be held on Sept. 7 (a Thursday! During the week! During the day!) for all Drexel faculty and professional staff members. From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., you and your fellow hardworking coworkers can take a break from your busy work schedules and relax with food, festivities and fun at Drexel Park. You can enter, or watch, the Employee Talent Showcase and games organized by the Athletics Department, including tug-of-war.

Interested? Click here to find out everything you need to know — and RSVP is required, so make sure you sign up.

Volunteer for Move-In Day

Interested in helping the newest incoming class of Drexel Dragons move in to their dorms on the University City Campus? You can volunteer your time — and muscles — during the official Move-In Day on Sept. 16. You can register here.

IRT Updates: Phishing Scams

On Aug. 16, Drexel Information Technology sent an email (archived here) reminding that there has been an increase in “phishing” emails asking readers to provide a password to “verify your account” or “pick up a file” — which is something that Drexel will NEVER do. To make sure you don’t fall victim to these scams, make sure you read up on what they entail so you know what to avoid.

Invitation to Drexel’s 2017 Convocation

The 2017 Convocation will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 1:30 p.m. in the Drexel University Daskalakis Athletic Center. Faculty, professional staff and graduate students are invited and encouraged to attend the ceremony. Please register online by Friday, Sept. 8. Regalia can be ordered during registration courtesy of the Office of the Provost.

This year’s keynote address will be given by Drexel’s very own Ana V. Diez Roux, MD, PhD, MPH, dean and Distinguished University Professor of Epidemiology in the Dana and David Dornsife School of Public Health.

Printing Resources

As of July 1, Drexel transitioned to an outsourced model for printing and copying services due to the changing volume and increasingly customized nature of customer requests in recent years. Drexel departments may work directly with the supplier of their choice; the following is an overview of printing resources.

Printing, Copying and Promotional Items

Supplier information and how to place an order via Smart Source, Drexel’s procure-to-pay tool, is available on the Procurement Services website.

Official University Stationary

Replica Creative is the sole provider for all Drexel University stationary, including letterhead, business cards, envelopes and note pads. Stationary orders must be placed via Smart Source, accessible via DrexelOne. For more information or custom orders, contact Replica Creative at 215.583.1212 or mail@replicaglobal.net.

Publish and Print Course Materials

The Barnes & Noble Drexel University Bookstore (located at 33rd and Chestnut Streets on the University City Campus) facilitates departments working with publishers to print and bind course materials. For more information, contact Barnes & Noble at 215.895.2860 or sm457@bncollege.com, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m.  and 5 p.m.
