More than 210 employer organizations will attend be at Drexel's Fall Career Fair.
With more than 210 employer organizations lining up to recruit from more than 1,300 students and alumni, Drexel University’s Fall Career Fair is receiving the largest response in the past five years. The Oct. 3 event, that welcomes a variety of employers from around the region, will be held in the Drexel Armory on 33rd Street between Market and Arch streets.
“This is one indicator that the labor market conditions are improving this year,” said Peter Franks, vice provost for Career Education. “We’re seeing a much broader and deeper array of industries and government agencies seeking to hire both graduating seniors and young alumni, as well as cooperative education students,” Franks said.
In attendance will be major accounting, financial services, and investment firms, as well as non-profits, government related agencies, and major chemical and petroleum companies. Employers will be seeking a broad array of talent ranging from information technology and science to business and the liberal arts.
According to the National Association for Colleges and Employers, graduates in the fields of computer and information science, business administration and management information systems are in high demand. NACE’s Job Outlook 2013, employers are expected to hire 13 percent more graduates than they did last year.
Drexel University has one of the largest academic career fairs in the Philadelphia region. Organized by the Steinbright Career Development Center, which maintains strong ties with local, national and international business through Drexel’s co-operative education program, the fair is held on campus in the fall and the spring each year. The co-op program helps to supply employers with strong candidates. It is the second largest in the nation comprising 1,500 employers in 35 states and 38 international locations.
