One of the great pleasures of my job is to see Drexel students itching to take on their next challenge. And with Commencement upon us, I want to take this opportunity to congratulate our graduates, and to offer them a few simple pieces of advice for the future.
First and foremost, take care of your health. Make it a priority in your life. Drexel has moved with programs like A Healthier U to support the wellness of students and employees, and for good reason: Excellence and success are much more likely with an underpinning of good health.
Maintain the relationships you have made while in college. The bonds forged by the shared experience of a Drexel education can be a source of strength and pleasure for the rest of your life. But it takes effort, and you need to continue to work at it. Drexel’s Alumni Association offers great opportunities to deepen friendships with your fellow alumni.
Stay true to your values. You have a compass inside of you that will always show the right path – you just need to keep your eye on it.
Finally, remember Drexel! Remember the great times and the great friends you have made on your journey. And remember how you have grown through struggles you have had as well. All those experiences are there for you to draw on when you face new challenges.
I am very proud of you! I look forward to hearing about your future accomplishments.
