The 2012 election will profoundly affect the course of health care in the U.S. Will Obamacare survive? Will a different plan emerge? What’s in store for Medicare? And how will it affect public health?
Experts in law, medicine and public health will explore prospects for the future of health reform and the health care system at What the Election Means for Health Reform, a roundtable discussion sponsored by the Earle Mack School of Law and School of Public Health at Drexel University.
The discussion will take place on Friday, Nov. 16, from 8 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University (1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway). It is free and open to the public. Breakfast will be available beginning at 8 a.m.
Dr. Marla J. Gold, dean of the School of Public Health, will present a keynote address prior to the discussion.
Panelists include Dr. Valerie Arkoosh, president of the National Physicians Alliance; Dr. Giridhar Mallya, director of policy and planning for the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Health Services; Sharon Ward, executive director of the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center; and Laval Miller-Wilson, executive director of the Pennsylvania Health Law Project.
The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Robert I. Field, professor of law in the Earle Mack School of Law and professor of health management and policy in the School of Public Health.
